Who I am
The controller of your personal data is Owen Lines, a sole trader trading as CircuitDesk. You can contact me at owen@circuitdesk.co.uk.
What I collect
If you're an electrician I've called or emailed: your business name, business phone number or email, and the trade you work in. I get these from public business listings.
If you're a client: the details you give me to set up and run CircuitDesk, and your customers' quote details (name, contact details, what was quoted, when). I handle your customers' details only on your instructions, as your processor. You stay the controller of that data.
Why, and my legal basis
- Contacting electricians about CircuitDesk: legitimate interests (B2B outreach to businesses that might find it useful).
- Delivering the service to clients: contract, and acting on the client's instructions for their customers' data.
Cold calls
I screen phone numbers against the TPS and CTPS registers before calling. If you don't want to hear from me, say so and I'll stop and note it so I don't contact you again. You can also tell me at the contact address above.
Who sees it
Nobody else, and I don't sell it. Client data is held with the cloud services used to run the system, which process it only to provide the service. Client customer data is never used for anything other than that client's follow-ups.
How long I keep it
- Electricians I've contacted: until you ask me to delete it, or 12 months after our last contact. If you opt out I keep just enough (your number or email) to make sure I don't contact you again.
- Client data: while we work together. After that you can export it, and I delete it on request or within 90 days of the end of the service.
Invoices and payment records: kept for 6 years, because HMRC requires sole traders to keep business records.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, or take a copy of it. You can object to my contacting you at any time and I'll stop. Email me at the address above.
Complaints
If you're unhappy, tell me first and I'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
